An accomplished entrepreneur, executive producer and philanthropist with an insatiable curiosity, Octavius Prince is the founder and CEO of O Street Capital. Based in Washington, DC, he invests in business ventures that are tied to his personal passions and entrepreneurial interests, including film, music, technology, gaming, controlled botanicals, and more.
Octavius began his career as a music producer and DJ, working and performing at venues around the world. This passion for music led him to build Hazmat Studios, a private recording studio at Mizata on the Pacific coast of El Salvador.
Acclaimed musicians and world-renowned artists from across all genres have recorded at this relaxing and secluded studio right next to the ocean. Octavius’s love for music production has also translated to an interest in film production. He served as an executive producer and actor in various films including The Preppie Connection (2015), Perception (2019), and Roe v. Wade (2021), a feature film documenting the landmark 1973 Supreme Court decision where Octavius appeared as pro-choice attorney Cyril Means. Directed and produced by Nick Loeb and Cathy Allyn, the film documents the landmark 1973 Supreme Court decision and the many figures with complex points of view who were involved. In Perception, he portrays a white supremacist, a role he took to highlight the darker side of the story of immigration reform. He hopes that this role will amplify the conversation and inspire critical thinking around issues that are relevant, complex, and rooted within our culture.
He is also featured in the short film thriller Synchronic (2021), which garnered four award nominations at the South Film & Arts Festival. Octavius plays the part of Gerald the manager of a big box retailer during the holiday seasons who helps a young child, mother, and the customers to safety and confronts the terrorists.
Extending beyond music and film, Octavius’s diverse portfolio includes major investments in several technology and gaming companies, including FlashTap, a platform combining gaming and social media that transforms what it means to be an influencer. His passion for and deep interest in gaming and technology allows him to create and add value for the companies in which he invests.
After a member of his family personally experienced the benefits of medicinal marijuana, Octavius was inspired to launch Ocean State Controlled Botanicals, the largest medical marijuana production facility in Rhode Island. The project is driven by Octavius’s belief that medical marijuana holds the potential to help relieve pain and suffering for those suffering from chronic conditions.
A native of Rhode Island, Octavius studied history at Occidental College in Los Angeles and Lynn University in Florida. He and his wife Mary Katherine are involved in many charitable organizations with missions ranging from the preservation of the environment to youth sports. They include: Foundation to Be Named Later (FTBNL), which runs the Hot Stove Cool Music event; Surfrider Foundation; The Preservation Society of Newport County; Cubs Charities; and Shirley Ryan Ability Lab (Formerly RIC). Octavius and Mary Katherine Prince are also members of the Spouting Rock Beach Association, The Clambake Club, and the Chicago Racquet Club. When not in DC, they can be found in Marshall, VA, Newport, RI, or traveling the world.
